Taking theatre into non-traditional spaces, and producing
shows for people who are on the margins of society, has always been a strong
strand of Interplay’s work.
In response to its belief that everyone has a right to
access story and the theatrical experience, the company has developed a technique of
unlocking the five senses in order to reach people with profound and multiple learning
disabilities.
Through its unique
productions Interplay has developed a reputation for drama that is accessible,
high quality and emotionally challenging. These productions are toured to special schools nationwide and, in recent years, have also been adapted for mainstream audiences.
In addition the company works with writers, directors and actors with both physical and learning disabilities to help them realise their full potential.
